5.3 S10 swap idle issue. Just swapped a L33 in my 99 S10 . engine has LS6 intake with cable throttle, BTR Truck Norris cam in 3 inch air intake. It will not hold its target idle tune. it starts fine but after runs a few minutes and it will drop down to the target idle and hold it for a few seconds. then slowly it climbs back up about 250 RPM ...I Have a 1997 K1500 with Vortec 350. Engine runs excellent with 210k on the clock. Was thinking of doing a winter project and putting in a performance cam. I do get some tapping noise only when temps are below freezing but goes away after a minute. I live at 7,000 feet elevation so I'm already down 20% hp and torque when compared to sea level.To intruduce myself I am new to tuning and have done a few DOD Disables and other small things with HP tuners in the past but I have gotten myself into my biggest project with a 2011 Avalanche 5.3 That had a DOD failure. Cam Choices. I've been doing a fair amount for reading and trying to understand camshafts. My SS is 2017 M6 with Roto-Fab. I've got ARH 1 7/8 long tubes with X pipe, race cats to stock bi-modals ordered. I'm wanting more power without giving up low end torque/ keeping as my low end as possible.
