Re: Flash Hider/Crush Washer. Phantoms dont have to index, they are not a brake style flash hider. The crush washers are to ensure your brake doesnt spin off over time due to recoil. Same theory as a suppressor on a bolt or semi auto rifle. You have to check them to make sure the recoil is not spinning them off.(The Crush Washers are made of spring steel and will compress, and at 90 degrees they will reach and maintain a rotational torque of 20-28ft/lbs until they are completely flat). Please note that a Crush Washer can only be compressed once, after removing the muzzle brake a new Crush Washer must be used.Most people seem to agree that it doesn't really matter, and that it will seal either way. No mo' gasket/crush washers to worry about. Just move handle on the Fumoto F-108s to drain and then lock in its indented position. Works every time. You can get a longer nipple joint depending on oil pan design.

Looking at the edge (see photo) - there is an aluminum layer in the very middle. Then on one side a thick blue layer, and on the other side a white layer plus a very thin blue layer. So I picked up a 10 pack of the Nissan crush washers for the oil drain plug. Part number is 11026-01M02. They look kind of strange, like 1/8 inch thick - thin copper with a groove in the middle. Did the dealer give me the right part?
The washer direction shown above is the correct and ONLY way to install the crush washer. Flipped around backwards, it might work, but you are not taking full advantage of the contact surfaces of the washer.
