Feb 4, 2018 · I finally worked up a lead free load for my 300 Win Mag that performs awesome. Thanks to the brilliant minds of California politicians we have to hunt with lead free which limits the rifles effective range to about 500-600 yards due to the projectiles needing a minimum velocity of 2000 fps for expansion. I used Hornady brass Barnes 180 gr TTSX In the 300 WSM with the 178 grain I'm using 67.0 grains of RL-26 with Fed 215s. Bullet averages 2,965 fps out of the 26" tube. It has shot several groups (all at 200 yards) just over 0.5 MOA. Jump was 0.017". 200 grainers are averaging 2,975 fps with 68 grains of RL-26.My 300 Win. Mag. H4831sc Here are some of my loads. 76 grs. H-4831 168 T-TSX = 3060fps with 1/2" groups. 78 grs. A 160 bullet might work a little better with the IMR4831. That should definitely get you over 3000 FPS too.
